Molex has launched the SlimStack 0.40 mm floating board-to-board connectors, designed to save space and allow for design flexibility. These new connectors are one of the smallest floating B-to-B connectors in the market. They are designed for automotive, industrial, and consumer applications that require a large floating range and high-speed transmission.

“Our new connectors are a step above the rest, allowing for easy assembly, reliability in challenging environments, and reduced impacts from shock and vibration,” said Kenji Miyahara, global product manager, Molex. “Plus, because assembly is automatic, it reduces customers’ time to market and saves labor costs.”

Compared to similar floating connectors in the market right now, the SlimStack 0.40 mm floating board-to-board connectors have a smaller size and a large floating range in three directions.

Additionally, Molex released the 1.25 mm pitch SlimStack floating board-to-board connectors, offering space savings, superior contact reliability to other options in the market and easy assembly. They are designed to prevent fretting corrosion. Customers in the automotive field will benefit from this connector large floating range and high-vibration resistance, making it a desirable option for car column switches.

The 1.25 mm pitch SlimStack floating board-to-board connectors feature a spring design that stops fretting corrosion, increases contact reliability, and is vibration resistant. The wide floating range — in three different directions — reduces the PWB gap and facilitates assembly, even in misalignment and blind joining situations. There’s also an improved contact design and a soft floating force.

“The compact size of this connector saves space and provides high contact reliability in harsh environments,” said Hiroki Ono, global product manager, Molex. “Thanks to the large floating range, it can mitigate mating errors during automatic assembly and support mass production.”

Compared to similar connectors in the market right now, the 1.25 mm pitch SlimStack floating board-to-board connectors have a smaller width and height, 10 circuits, a 125 V voltage rating, a 1.0 A current rating and 10-cycle durability.
